A groovy introduction and more!

Posted by Bazinga-Bucket - 1 day ago

I don't usually talk because i can't think of anything good or interesting to say, but now i do.

My most recent post got front paged (hell yeah), and I've got a bunch more followers now.

First of all I've obviously gotta give thanks to all the people that liked my art, the people that suggested my art and to all the people that follow me now or already follow me(hell yeah).

(honestly i should start replying to comments with thank you instead of just reacting with the happy emoji)

Second of all I thought I'd make this to introduce myself, showing off the kind of stuff that I take inspiration from.

It's pretty obvious that i love cars, I've drawn Japanese and euro machines before but mostly American and Aussie muscle and stuff from the malaise era/70s, as for other things, I like to draw robots, aliens and brains in jars, but mainly cars.

Why?

Because cars are badass

I tend to take inspiration from a lot of stuff from the 70s/80s

As you can see the cars here have a lot of the stuff that i like to include in my drawings.

body kits, fat tires, crazy paintjobs, tunnel ram, superchargers, velocity stacks, slapper bars, air shocks, letterbox scoops, zoomie exhausts, side pipes etc.

The cars are made in the street freak/street machine style

The vans are done up in the boogie van/shaggin wagon style, haven't done any of those yet i gotta change that.

I have a lot more examples but i don't wanna clog up this post.

Another thing that influences my style are advertisements and promo material from the 60s/70s.

iu_1405457_7797184.webpiu_1405458_7797184.webpiu_1405459_7797184.webpiu_1405460_7797184.webpiu_1405461_7797184.webpiu_1405462_7797184.webpiu_1405463_7797184.webp

You can see that these all feature a heavy amount of colorful imagery, cool angles and cool cars of course.

Another thing that runs through my head are the covers and contents of the old CARtoons magazines, those old George Trosley cartoons are sick, i would put some more on here but it'd just be better to search them up there's too much to choose from.

Honorable mentions go to the lowriders of the 70s, they had groovy paintjobs.

At this point this might as well just be an excuse to show off these old pictures.

That's enough of cars, wouldn't want this to get annoying.

Now more about me.

Before I started drawing cars my main subject was robots, specifically Bionicle and Hero Factory.

My love for robots still has an influence on me to this day, I still draw stuff like that from time to time because even i can get tired of the gasoline and tire smoke sometimes.

(Someday I'll post some of my older drawing so you'll see what I'm talking about)

You'll notice that all my art is done with pencil and paper, originally i wanted to move onto digital art a couple years ago.

I was tired of having to wait for a certain time of day with decent lighting to take a good picture of my art with my phone so I got myself one of those tablets and hooked it up to my computer.

I did make some good stuff but i eventually gave up after a year or so, i guess i just like the feeling of paper more, it has given me a lot more respect for the people that can pull off all that cool art digitally though.

Recently i got my hands on a scanner though so i don't have to deal with my phone that much anymore.

As for what I'll draw next, here's a hint: CANADIAN

Alright I've run out of good ideas on what to say.

Again thanks to all the people that checked out/liked my art and hopefully i don't bore you with all this car stuff.

If you'd like to ask any questions about me or my art feel free to ask mane.
